Post-5 Napkin Burger

Horrible!! The 5-Napkin Burger on 14th in Manhattan gets an F.

The waitress and the manager assured me everything was gluten free, but then didn't know or couldn't say with certainty when I asked asked specifics. 

The drink I ordered (tito's and cranberry, the. Gluten free vodka of choice) came back as something else.

We initially ordered the chips and guacamole, on the condition they were gluten free, and without our waitress checking they came out. And they weren't!

So in conclusion, if you have gluten allergies and visit that particular five napkin, be WARNED!

The one in Hell's Kitchen is waaaaay better.

Tonight a buddy of mine and I are seeing a show, and wanted to grab dinner before.  

I had some nerves about where we would go, because anytime before a major event, like a show, is not a good time to go into panic mode.

So, we settled on 5 napkin burger!

My parents and I have done it before, and they're really good about food allergies. So here we go! More to follow

Living with Food Allergies

Hello everyone!

I'm a mid twenties man from New York, living with anaphylactic food allergies to wheat, rye, and barley. 

I've had the allergies for all of my life. I used to be allergic to milk and egg, but I've since outgrown them. 

Recently I've been struggling with them more than I have in the past. Whenever I ingest wheat, rye, or barley (or gluten, as the three are becoming known as more and more) I have to immediately go to the hospital, not exactly convenient for anyone involved. A little history of the frequency of my reactions:

- When I was a baby to about 2 or 3, tons of them

- Minor reactions between 5-10

- Major reaction - May 19, 2002 

- Major reaction - December 24, 2008

- Major reaction - February 21, 2013

- Major reaction - March 17, 2013 

- Major reaction - July 25, 2013

- Minor reaction - August 16, 2013

- Minor reaction - September 25, 2013
