I'm a mid twenties man from New York, living with anaphylactic food allergies to wheat, rye, and barley.
I've had the allergies for all of my life. I used to be allergic to milk and egg, but I've since outgrown them.
Recently I've been struggling with them more than I have in the past. Whenever I ingest wheat, rye, or barley (or gluten, as the three are becoming known as more and more) I have to immediately go to the hospital, not exactly convenient for anyone involved. A little history of the frequency of my reactions:
- When I was a baby to about 2 or 3, tons of them
- Minor reactions between 5-10
- Major reaction - May 19, 2002
- Major reaction - December 24, 2008
- Major reaction - February 21, 2013
- Major reaction - March 17, 2013
- Major reaction - July 25, 2013
- Minor reaction - August 16, 2013
- Minor reaction - September 25, 2013
